What is Equator?

The equator passes through or near Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and is close to the borders of other Southeast Asian countries. Equatorial locations experience nearly equal 12-hour days and nights year-round, the highest annual solar radiation, minimal seasonal temperature variation, and cannot develop tropical cyclones (insufficient Coriolis force). Singapore, at 1.3°N, is the closest major city to the equator in Southeast Asia.
