Climate & seasons
Kerala, on the south-west coast between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, is warm and humid all year, and most of its rain falls from June to November, brought by two monsoons. It is where the southwest monsoon first reaches mainland India, and in the centre and north of the state, rain is heaviest in June and July; the northeast monsoon then brings a second rainy spell in October and November, though around Kozhikode, October is only about as wet as September. In the far south, around Thiruvananthapuram, October is as wet as June. The heat peaks in March and April, before the monsoon.
When to visit Kerala
The most comfortable months to visit are December to February, the driest part of the year. From April the humidity builds, and the monsoon months bring very heavy rain.
