Weather in Jharkhand

Climate & seasons

Jharkhand has a tropical monsoon climate with three clear seasons. The hot season builds from March and peaks in April and May; the southwest monsoon then brings most of the year's rain from June to September, heaviest in July and August; and after it withdraws the months are dry, with warm days and cooler nights. Ranchi, on the Chota Nagpur plateau, is a little cooler than the lower country around it.

When to visit Jharkhand

The most comfortable months to visit are November to February, when the air is dry and the days are warm rather than hot. December and January are the coolest months. The monsoon months are humid, with heavy downpours.

Air quality in Jharkhand

AQI conditions vary by city and season. Winter (November–January) is typically the worst, when cool, still air traps pollution near the ground. Each city's page, linked above, shows its live AQI.
