generalWhat is Acclimatisation?
When travellers from temperate climates arrive in tropical Southeast Asia, their bodies need time to adapt to higher temperatures and humidity. During acclimatisation, the body learns to sweat more efficiently, adjust blood flow and conserve electrolytes. Full acclimatisation takes 7-14 days. During this period, reduce physical activity, stay hydrated, and spend time in air-conditioned environments. Athletes require longer acclimatisation (2-3 weeks) before peak performance in tropical heat.
